Devotional Singing from various cultures / religions

As a personal interest, I have explored the fields of Devotional singing.
I have found that devotional singing exist in all religions and cultures.

When I hear a song of a devotional nature,
the poems of Reknown Indian Poet Rabindranath Tagore (1861 – 1941)
came into mind : ) : )

“When thou commandest me to sing
it seems that my heart would break with pride;
and I look to thy face, and tears come to my eyes.

All that is harsh and dissonant in my life
melts into one sweet harmony
–and my adoration spreads wings
like a glad bird on its flight across the sea.

I know thou takest pleasure in my singing.
I know that only as a singer I come before thy presence.
I touch by the edge of the far spreading wing of my song thy feet
which I could never aspire to reach.

Drunk with the joy of singing I forget myself
and call thee friend who art my lord. "
……….

To promote appreciation of devotional music from different religions/cultures,
I’ll share some devotional music from various cultures.

Devotional Songs by Sami Yusuf.

Sami Yusuf is one of the best muslim singers I've found.
His songs are full of devotion, reflection, supplication and sincerity.
His music portrays a gentle, reflective, devotional form of Islam.

Sami is born in Iran and his whole family moved to Britain when he was small. Sami studied music in a British University and could play many instruments.

He has a very devotional nature and he made his first album “Al’muallim” to sing his devotion to Allah. The album was released 3 years back and it was very, very well received in the Muslim world.
Sami released another album "My Ummah" and it was an instant hit. His third album is still in the making.

When asked why did he take his time to record his albums, Sami replied that he wish to make good art pieces --- Art pieces that even ten years down the road, when he looked back, he would say that it is worthy.

..........

I went on to youtube to watch Sami’s MTVs and am pleasantly surprised by the artistry and graciousness shown in the MTVs. The MTVs showed Sami Yusuf going about his daily life performing little acts of kindness. It's heart-warming and depicts the demeanour of a muslim gentleman. :):)

The following are the songs that I like best :
